Clay Gunderson, JD, CPP (LTC, US Army - Ret) Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI (CE) Clay Gunderson was born in Honolulu, Hawaii where he graduated from McKinley High School. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force for four years, serving in South Vietnam, Thailand, and Okinawa. Upon discharge he attended the University of Hawaii and graduated with a BA (with academic distinction) in Political Science (Pre-Law). He returned to the US Air Force as an officer flying the backseat in the F-4 Phantom as a Weapons Systems Officer (WSO). He was later transferred to the US Air Force Intelligence Reserves while he attended law school. In 1983 he earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii. Following law school Mr. Gunderson served as a Deputy Attorney General with the State Attorney General’s Office in Honolulu. He then served as a full-time (AGR) judge advocate in Hawaii before being assigned to the South Dakota Army National Guard as the State Judge Advocate General of South Dakota. He retired from active duty in The Judge Advocate General’s Corps-U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1999. He is still a licensed attorney in Hawaii and an ASIS International Certified Protection Professional (CPP). Mr. Gunderson previously served as Deputy Commander/Director of Business Operations and Flight Chief, Procurement Analysis flight at Ellsworth AFB, SD for over three years before joining the US Department of States’ Construction Surveillance Monitoring Program in 2005. He is a career status federal employee, GS-1102-12, Supervisory Contracting Specialist (certified DAWIA APDP Level II in Contracting) and an MCSE trained/CompTIA A+ certified IT professional.
