Government Code section 8211 requires notaries to keep a complete journal entry, complete w/signature & thumbprint for each person signing each document, this can be many lines and a couple of pages for a purchase since each lender requires their own list of notarization. The minimum charge for a notary signature in CA is $15 per signature.Copying e-docs + borrowers copy + travel time, attaching state specific jurats & or acknowledgments with our legal wording to docs etc. is also a factor
